    best car for road racing?

Last night coming from my gfs house in derry i was on 982 trying to get home fast and taking those turns and shifting and just being on edge was AWESOME .. This made me think about changing my way of going fast. I am alot more involved doing that than going straight 1320'. So i am looking to get into the road racing scene and was just wondering what car would be good for the handling and power and torque that is a good starting point. I was thinking a 96-98 4v cobra.. Any thoughts?

We get more E36 BMW's than anything for Road cars. M3's really respond when you add a cage and some bolt on's.

I was sorta into road racing a few years back, and bought a 98 4v cobra. I put 4.10's in it, and that thing owned Nelson Ledges. For me, that was the best stang I ever had up there. BTW I had a 93 GT, 95 cobra, and that 98 on that track.

    96-98 cobra gets my vote.

I have been running my Cobra on the track the last couple years. I bought a 1996 BMW M3 in January for track use. The E36 BMW's make great track cars. They are light weight and handle well. I don't have the power I am used to, but I get around the track just as fast. If you are going to get a track car, invest in tires, brakes and suspension. You don't need power to go fast on a road course unless it has a few long straights. I still tell people I am a mustang guy, I just happen to be driving a BMW. If you have a lot of money, get a 911.

I am selling the stang i have now to grab one up. The reason i want a 96-98 cobra is because the way my car sits now the cobra still has alot more power and i can concentrate on the suspension and brakes and the tires and have the right set up and not have to worry about not having any power.

What about a 99-01 cobra with IRS.
