As you guys may have caught prior, I recently bought a Terminator in San Antonio, TX and drove it back to PA.
All in all, the car is amazingly clean for being 8 years old and having 60,000 miles. However, there are still a few spots here and there that need some attention.
This is going to be my ongoing detail thread (been working on it in the evenings after work and probably this weekend). I told Mineral Rob I'm coming for the #1 spot as cleanest New Edge!
The original owner had some silly ass Steeda stripes going across the bottom of the doors which I removed (leaving a little bit of sticker goo) as well as 6009, the build number, on the frt bumper ala Saleen style. Those I also removed.
However, it left some imprints in the clear, as well as some minor fading in the paint, which I will hit with some 1500 grit and Meguiar's M105 compound (pics soon)
Here is what I've got so far:
Removed the front bumper cover (gotta fill the holes with color matched bumper plugs until I wanna pull it to get it filled)
Washed front, clay barred with DP Detailer's Clay, started polishing front bumper which had some hazing on it. Hit it with a single pass M105 and an orange light cut pad. The compound really brought out the flake. I plan on following up with Poorboy's SSR1 and Collinite's 845.
The bumper has some baked in bugs outside of where the license plate frame was, seems like it's gonna need a wet sand, not sure if I'm going to take that task on right away.
I was thinking about buying a set of tinted headlights, but I'm going to see if I can work some magic with the OEM ones (typical Mustang hazing) via wetsanding.
