Yeah I agree, 5.0's are sweet.. I did play with one tho that had at least exhaust done and if I remember correctly I think he was about the same out of the hole but the Cougar defiantly beat him up top. But who knows the millage on that thing.

I want to see how I do against one of my classmates. He has a 2002 stang GT but it's an atx. I really don't think he will use 2 feet to launch.. but then again it still is a Mustang and will probably walk me.

theres no way a stock cougar is faster/quicker than a stock 5.0, ive drove both
my 2.5 mtx cougar with light mods and my GT 5spd, even my auto 5.0 vert is faster than the cougar.

Thats why I said who knows the mileage on the Mustang. Stock for stock Mustang would walk the Cougar no doubt about it. But a modified 2.5L against a 5.0L Mustang with 100, 000 miles might be a different story. Plus the kid driving might have sucked at driving as well.

You probably take care of your Mustang a lot better then he took care of his.

Older 5.0's came with 205 horsepower - that's the same as the 99+ V6 Mustang, which a lightly modded Cougar will trounce.

Usually a 5.0 needs to be upgraded to do anything noteworthy. The 4.6 is a way better motor - at least out of the box.

i had both cars stock, when i got my mustang i couldnt believe how much better it ran. im in a losing battle you can't fight every dick on a forum that owns that car.
