    What Camera do you use?

Well, Christmas is coming up, and I think I want a good camera. I might be taking some photography classes next semester also, so Im lookin to see what everyone uses. When I went to a VW car show a few weeks back I used my buddys gf's camera. It was a Kodak easyshare not sure on the model number, but it goes for around 135 bux brand new on ebay, and it took some really good pics. Im not tryin to run my parents dry so Im looking for something relativly cheap. There are some specific people on here that take good pics and Im wondering what ya use. MBH, your pics are probly the best ones IMO, what are ya using?

Heres some of my pics from the VW show that came out the best...

Last but not least, the best one taken!

wow dude, I really appreciate it!

I'm using something you can probably get on ebay for pretty cheap these days (its like 6 years old?) - the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT. Anything SLR will blow away a point and shoot camera in terms of potential, although that isn't to say that there aren't some very good point and shoot cameras out now. Color and light metering on an SLR just can't be matched by a pocket camera :)

Link to some 350d's (my camera) on ebay http://photography.shop.ebay.com/ite...=p3286.c0.m282

If you're going to get a new one, Nikon makes great cameras as well - but always look into what type of lenses and what type of reviews people give them as well as their versatility etc. Nothing pisses me off more than switching around lenses, so I bought a lens that goes from 35mm-300mm and gave up some picture clarity which is fine by me. A fixed lens ("prime") will give you the best photos for your money.

Take a look at the new canons & nikons at best buy or something, I'm very partial to canon because I think they're more user friendly and that is what my friends have learned on as well so its an easy knowledge pool. Also, the vast majority of professional photographers use canon (mostly because of the lenses - notice how any major sporting event has a whole slew of guys with huge off-white lenses, those are called "L" glass & they cost more than your car lol)

Basically, my vote is for you to get any type of SLR, a tripod (which is a must) and leave some room in your budget for another lens so you're not limited. At first you will feel very limited because there is seemingly no zoom on the kit lenses, so you'll want a telephoto or good all purpose lens to go with it. I use the kit lens (18-55mm) and a very fast tamron lens (35-300mm).

Any questions feel free to ask, if I can't figure them out I'm sure someone else (or google) can lol

Canon EOS Rebal XT as well. It is an awesome camera, and I would recommend it. I still need to get a new lens, using stock for now.

I'd LOVE to have a DSLR camera, but I'm currently using a Canon Powershot SD450, pretty good quality pics for a point-and-shoot camera, and it takes pretty good video too. I think I paid $450 for it like 3 years ago.

All of mine are from a Canon Powershot A640. I'm happy with it. My Mom was stuck on a 35MM until she saw the pics from mine. She never thought a digital would take good pics like the 35MM she has. We finnally got her to go with a Sony DSLR. She's still learning how to use it. At least the some of the stuff from her 35MM will work with the Sony (Sony bought out Minolta).

Yup, you don't have to touch a thing off of em if you don't want to and most of the time they'll come out really nicely. Those look good Dak!

I also have an S5 IS. The only issue I have is that the lens kit that I purchased for it is a combo macro and wide angle. For some reason, you have to use them together and it doesn't seem like they are supposed to go together. All of my pics have some really good crisp portions and some non focused portions. Go figure..
