I still wish my second gear would engage properly though, time for a shifter I guess

Heres one of the infamous second gear lockout issue thats plaguing the 2010+ gt500's. Its not all the time, so i think it might be more of a shifter issue, not sure.

So, what did the car run? I'd be willing to bet money that a shifter won't fix the second gear issue. It's really a shame that for the price of those cars, that they have transmission issues like they do. Is anybody faceplating them or anything? I tend to think the transmission issue has to do with the synchros or blockers.

Is the issue related at all to the clutch pedal "sticking" to the floor between shifts? If so, there was some issue with clutch bolts backing out and there was a recall or bulletin or whatever they call it.

Tremec now has a bolt in trans out, it has a transmission mounted shifter just like the older cars, big bucks though. Not sure if anyone has done any testing, it is a shame these cars have such a pos setup in them. On a positive note, it keeps me away from the track with mine, lol.

It shifts into second on normal driving. Its still the stock shifter. A lot of folks see success in changing shifter, stiffer motor mounts and a trans brace.

Car runs mid 10s @ 136 with a 1.6 60' even with a cleqn pass second gear has a hesitation

Ok jealous slow poke. Whatever you say.

What does my car run oh jealous expert.

One of those videos was a 10.6 at 135 with a 1.63 60.

You're saying a 10.58 is out of the question with a slightly better 60. You're wacked.

Even with a grinding second id wax your banana turd :) have anything to contribute or just being a troll as usual?

Damn you need to get that car to Dave @ Team Z and have that suspension worked over. You should easily be 60'ing in the 1.3's

any shelby would need alot of suspension work ,alot of torque and weight reduction to get a 1.3 60ft.

I went low 1.4's with 500 rwhp in a 3400lb raceweight car so 750 rwhp at 3900lbs should be pretty easy with a descent suspension.

I am pretty confident this car can cut mid 1.4 60's if I actually launch using my two step so I can launch in boost. Launches in the videos were from a 3500 rpm clutch slip with zero boost. I'd most likely need to replace my axles and diff before I do this with any sort of frequency.

I am actually running a similar suspension that the cobra jet is, as in I am using the same shocks and struts (tokico d specs), just that I am using a linear rate BMR spring, which has actually decent rates for drag racing, but they are a lowering spring.

I need lighter wheels, as these racestars are still somewhat heavy.

None of this is worth doing though unless I can rectify this second gear lockout issue that happens from time to time, what I have learned is, it is not really an internal thing, unless the trans was excessively damaged from grinding, but it is actually a body and trans out of alignment issue from torque since the shifter is body mounted/remote.

So my plan of attack is:
-Replace shifter that does not have sloppy rubber bushings
-Motor mounts
-Trans mount
-K member brace with torque limiters

This should rectify it, as I already have a wot box and changed the tranny fluid.

Yes and he has considerably more power than a Cobra Jet so with the right parts and knowledge (Team Z) I believe his car is more than capable of going 1.3's.

Those sound like a few things to get you on the right path. Good luck! :awsome:

I know what it ran at Thompson, I'm not doubting that.

Just find it funny you went 10.5 at Quaker with no body around, no video on a day it was raining and you were asking people to go to Jerry's. typical Jay tho.

Congrats. I'd hope with 700+rwhp you'd be able to pull a bone stock corvette...

That's 100% incorrect. It was a beautiful friday night and my trip to quaker was a last minute outting. I'm about to go take a shit, need a video?
