Cool. Got back to working on my Sport Coupe last week. Braking parts will be in this week possibly so I can start reassembly.

jaa55
02-12-2012, 08:06 PM
what all are you doing with the brakes dan?

Dan B.
02-12-2012, 08:42 PM
Sport's had 10" front disc and drum rear. I swapped all TC parts on both ends...11" fronts and discs in rear. Also going to a M/C with a 1" bore (1985 Towncar) and Wilwood manual prop valve.

Plan on suspension upgrades in future but want to get the HO/T5 swap sorted out first then move forward from there.

jaa55
02-12-2012, 08:49 PM
nice, Id like to go with vacuum brakes on my car but ill probably wait until the hydro assist screws up. It works fine I just dont like the feel of the pedal.

Do you use the cable clutch with that swap or can you use the hydraulic clutch from the TC?

Dan B.
02-12-2012, 09:21 PM
Went cable so parts would be easier to come by if something broke on the road. Would like to use this for road tripping and vacations so I'm staying with mainly Ford parts in the driveline so nothing is real exotic. So far the only things not OEM are the throttle body, EGR and H-pipe.

Sure is a sad thing that the T-bird was given a lowly 150hp 5.0L when putting in the HO would have made life much better!!

jaa55
02-12-2012, 09:27 PM
its hard to believe they didnt make an HO option, are you going mass air on it too?

Dan B.
02-12-2012, 09:38 PM
Staying SD for now...will see how that goes. If I break the motor open for heads or cam down the road then MA will likely follow. This is the car I'm putting your strut tower brace on.

jaa55
02-12-2012, 09:46 PM
haha crap i could have used that

Dan B.
02-12-2012, 09:53 PM
Find me a black one and you can have your airbrushing back. ;)

Thanks, sadly I might have to sell this for a house....Im hoping I can hang onto it especially after all the work and effort being put into it. With a few little more things this could be a perfect example of a TC

1Badbird
04-21-2012, 04:04 PM
That would suck. Hopefully you can figure some way to keep it. Once you get it done you might have an even harder time getting rid of it.

That thing won't be complete w/o a set of stacks.........you know.....don't all the Dayton boys have stacks....on everything??

These are crappy pictures and it just looks like im jumping around without finishing anything. Im missing some trim pieces from paint yet. I had to take a wheel off to mess with the inner fender so of course I had to see how a cobra R looked on it:awsome:

Wow that looks gorgeous! Now get that broom and whatever that wooden-handled thing leaning up against your shelves is away from the side of the car!

Got some more stuff done. Still need to get the hood adjusted, inner fenders in and the interior is still ripped to pieces.

At least I got to go for a spin in it today.

Looks great! I bet that paint pops when the sun comes out. I picked up a set of Cobra R's over the winter for mine. I wanted chrome but I couldn't pass up on the deal so mine are the painted ones.

It looks like the twin to the one I stripped. Only this one was so rusted I don't know how the front end didn't fall off. I'm just glad my step-son didn't hit anything with it, he would've been killed.
