Probably a stretch on here, but has anyone been to Magnolia dragstrip in Ohio? It's an 1/8th mile track.

http://www.magnoliadragstripinc.com/

I am planning to go out there July 2nd to run with the UMTR guys. Any insight to facilites there (air, water, etc) and how is access to the track? (learned to ask these things after going to Friendship Park, now Steel Valley, for the first time :D )

If anyone is interested in some 1/8th mile stick shift racing let me know ;)

Bob, I'll try to get you some info. I think AJ has gone over a couple times, as well as a couple of others. I've only heard good things about the place.

One of the guys that I deal with for the Olds, Smitty at M&J Proformance, isn't too far away from it either, and he has talked well about it also.

Mostly it sounds like a typical small 1/8th mile place. He said it a good track, the starting line usually has good bite and they know how to prep for stick cars. All the pit spots are grass but the roads are all paved (said just like Quaker). Porta Johns for facilites but a nice concession stand. Other things if you need them, you better bring them (air, water, fuel, etc). Mainly needed to know if I needed to lug my generator and compressor and stuff like that. Looks like I should.

I love going to new tracks, it's an adventure every time :D Since this is the first UMTR points race (lost first two to weather), I bought into their points. This means I am also going to try their race at Pacemakers so I'll get another new place to try this year (already going to Milan for NMRA).

Pretty neat place. We had a great time today although I reslly struggled with traction there, as did a lot of the stick guys. We was in and out of rain a few times today and then it was freaking hot and humid ... My last round today had a 1.99 60' :D dumped the clutch and it was up in smoke.

Still a great little place to race, they treated us like they wanted us there.

It's nice to go somewhere that appreciates your business, When I circle track raced Jennerstown speedway would treat you like crap but I went up to Clearfield (Central Pa speedway... when it was asphalt) and cleaned everyone's clock and was expecting to get run off and they were very nice and wanted me to come back and all the other racers were friendly.
I was 15 minutes from Jennerstown and 1:45 from CPS and enjoyed racing up there more

:awsome: No doubt ... Track owner (Dixie) came around and thanked us all for coming and the crew was really nice to everyone all day. It was tough for everyone with the rain and stuff and they still tried to make sure it was fun.

A few videos from today ....

1st time trial, 2nd pair down after rain but spun like crazy ... Car went 1.73 for 60' and 7.71 at 90 mph

2nd TT I let the tires almost flat, messed with my air bag and a few other details ... still spun, only went 1.68 for 60' and a 7.66 at 90 mph.

Pretty typical ... It doesn;t bother me, but drives my wife crazy ... The only one that pisses me off is when they call it a "5 - oh" ... yeah right ;)

I raced the Cuda in time trials there and eliminations ... that was a 440" 4 speed car. The Camaro had huge traction issues too (you can hear him spin then crash gears).

John Boy got a good shot of my car there anyway ...
