View Full Version : California Terminator...

Just some quick pics of a terminator that was shipped to us from California! A good customer of ours purchased it over the internet and had it shipped to the shop for a go over and some upgrades. After some quick fixes, some testing and a go over, we are going to mount some fresh rubber on the D-10's and screw the rear wheels. Then on the dyno she goes for some baseline data and power numbers. After that, off to the track for some baseline 1/4 mile times:laughing1:

Once we see where everything is at with the car, let the modding begin:thmbsup:

Whoa nice! Which whipple is that? Any previous claimed power #s/track times?

I'm told it makes over 600 on 91 octane, not sure on the et's...I guess we will find out! Whipple 3.4.....

It already has an 8.8 conversion but the customer really wants a 9" and redo the rear suspension. It's a stock motor but we are probably going to boost it some more and tune her up for straight race gas. Needs some safety upgrades and may redo the front suspension also. Hopefully we can get everything done and back out to the track before we ship the car back to him...

The car was filthy from the long trip across county, I needed to take some pictures for the customer so I figured I would post them up!

Hey Mike this maybe a stupid question but I am getting H&R Race Springs installed. Would that tire combo fit? Thanks

Hey Mike this maybe a stupid question but I am getting H&R Race Springs installed. Would that tire combo fit? ThanksIf my memory serves me correctly, the H&R race springs sit very low don't they? I usually run OEM bullitt spings without isolators for this combo and that will sit the car about as low as you want it to be, and there are still rubbing issues.

Darn, but thank you for the information! The race springs dont sit as low as the super sports but they are still pretty low.

They may work, kind of just have to try and see. Adjustable lower control arms really help to get the wheel centered in the car. You can add ride height with isolators and spacers.

Or get a set of lowers with adjustable perches....

I was going to suggest that, same thing that is on this car. I have never seen a set of adjustable lowers that also had adjustable perches which is why I didn't say anything. You can always get the ride height/vertical clearance but getting the wheel/axle positioned properly is a different story without and adjustable lower control arm.

Me neither....

Ajustable LCA's and Coilovers would get the job done on any car with a SAS.

I agree but I don't care for coilovers on your typical stock suspension 8.8 car....

Got the car on the dyno for some baseline data and numbers. Little rich, low timing, 91 octane topped off with some fresh 93 to be safe...full drag trim

Well, those of you who stop by the shop know this car has been sitting for quite a while! Customer had some personal stuff come up and we have basically just been storing the car for him until some things got worked out. He gave us the go ahead a little while back to convert the car over to a 9", housing is back from powder coating....

Dave uses the Strange 9" housing and it looks like it has the relocated upper mounts to keep the Mustang stock geometry. Dave worked with Strange to develop that, I think my car had the first one :)
Car looks good, mean with those wheels, hood and bigass blower.

Anti-Roll bar is installed along with the rear suspension. 9" is assembled and installed as well. Came out pretty nice, we retained the oem brakes and abs!

Very nice.
Mike does Strange make the brackes to keep the stock brakes with the 9"?
That is a nice option, I'd assume it would be the same bracket if you do 9" tubes on an 8.8"

Did the new set-up center it better in the wheel well? It was pretty far forward in the first shots in October. Tire grow would almost for sure hit the rockers.

Yes, we used strange for everything on this build.

Cool good to know, back when I did mine they didn't make that bracket yet and I switched rear brakes.

If you don't want to go 9" I have the perfect 8.8 sitting here at the shop for you. It's a Mach I housing so the width is perfect for your car, already has a Cobra companion flange to retain your OEM driveshaft. Good luck either way!

I think I wanna go 9in. It just looks beastly and im sure it will be strong enough to handle what I am doing. Ill need at least 33 spline if not 35, I just dont think I want the spool with the 35s.

Getting ready to do the motor! Short block is almost done, cams are in, need to check the heads and then install/degree the cams. Looking forward to putting this car on the dyno when it's ready:goodidea:
