You mean his former car? I don't know if you heard the story. I think it's awesome. Dave Norris (MIllerstown Pick A Part) gave Art's former Duster back to Art. The last I heard, he was getting it together to be ready to run this year.

Ed, watch out for Keith's awl.

I love it when these stick shift guys say they have more power. What that really says is , more power, more stress on the rest of the drive train plus the added stress on the engine. You'll have to excuse the huge smile on my face when they start blowing pieces all over the place. And if they don't, I've purchased 2 very sharp awls, one for Ed ( the sharpest and biggest one )and one for Bob, so drop away guys at what ever RPM you want to. hehehehehe

Man, i'm not even registered over there and getting beat up. I'm putting clutch and tranny parts all over his starting line :D

With this rain moving in, make sure you check the PRP site or track phone, to ensure they're open. The cool wet weather keeps things wet and messy. Hopefully the wind helps push this stuff early, and helps it dry out. I'm jonesing to see some cars run!!

They should open the gates a little early and let us drive up and down the track to dry it. We did that in the past. Thats of course not going to help the grass though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Again, check the PRP site or phone. I left Avonmore, about 15 minutes from the track, and it was still spitting a little rain, and everything was wet. Even if tomorrow ends up dry, the pits may be too wet. Hopefully at least 1 day will work out this weekend. I'm jonesin' bad! :hyper:

Fresh off the website

April 4 - Rained Out
Due to current track conditions, the track will not be open today. The amount of rain all day yesterday and lack of warmth, the ground is very soggy and will turn to mud when anyone gets on it, bringing mud to the track area.

We plan to open tomorrow, Sunday, April 5th. Please check back on here or call the track tomorrow morning for updates!

Not a doubt in my mind it's the right call for today. A green, cold track, high winds, wet pits, would not be conducive to good traction or arrow straight runs. I hope it works for tomorrow, even though I won't be there til the last part, if at all.

Martin0660
04-05-2009, 05:52 PM
I didnt get any in as my car is still in the garage :D They had two when I left, If everyone got three I would be suprised. It's not about the number of runs this time of year, guys where shaking things down and breakdowns are expected. It was great to be in the sun, see guys you only see at the track. smell the rubber, race gas, and vibrations. Makes me feel alive again :D

Ares

Everyone got 3 runs. Was an oil down I think the 8th pair out from start. That was an hour cleanup as they had to clean entire track thru shutdown. Few other smaller oil downs.

My car ran ok. Ended up warmer then it was suppose to be today.

1st pass
60' - 1.651
330' - 5.164
1/8 - 8.077
MPH - 82.43
1000' - 10.581
1/4 - 12.685
MPH - 107.45
Base timing at stock 10*, launch 5500, shift 5800, 12psi slicks, 41psi fronts, struts at #3, shocks both at #3

2nd pass
60' - 1.661
330' - 5.139
1/8 - 8.032
MPH - 86.37 New best
1000' - 10.514
1/4 - 12.594
MPH - 110.59 New Best
Bumped base timing up to 15*, Launch 5700, shift 5800, struts at #3, shocks #3D/#5P, 13psi slicks, 45psi fronts.

Car has turned 112mph before but it was in 40* temps and a 25mph tail wind. So with no wind today it's showing its making more power. As it responded nicely to the timing bump. If I ever get my tune it should run much better.

My 3rd pass was wasted as 2-3 shift didn't go smooth and I wasted over a tenth at 330'. Even then it still pulled hard at top end and nearly ran 109mph on a crappy 12.92et

It seems as though the 330' e.t. is a little off in relation to the 1320' e.t. Perhaps the stock cams were making a greater amount of avg. power at this point before the tune. I am not aware of how the combo was 330'-ing before the cam swap though. Any validity in the hypothesis stated?

330' has been faster before. When I ran 12.47 and 12.48 last October it ran 5.0698/5.0733 330'. Which was best with stock cams and tune. Most my quicker passes are normally in the 5.0x range at 330'. I don't think todays passes were bad with new cams and stock tune. The fuel injectors are probably firing late. Those need to be firing alot earlier and possibly a little longer. Soon as I get tune for car I will need to put it on a dyno and go from there. I'm sure the shift points I was using are too low. Especially when I have no idea where peak power is at. These cams are capable of making power to 6800 on stock heads.

Other thing is also I am at my 2-3 shift before 330' so if it's off a little or not playing nice with me. That will also slow me up a hair

Ares,

I'm surprised you got to race at all considering how you almost killed that chick walking across the slick car lane. :sticktonge:

What I had to laugh the most about was the fact that she walked in front of you and then after you drove away she was the one that looked irritated even though it was her fault. :rotflol:

Either way, car looked good.

There were a lot more people watching than I expected. I guess everyone's ready for the season to start. The weather was nice but the few oil downs pushed the program out later than they planned. I had to leave before the gamblers race but at least I got two runs in.

I should have fn hit her, give her a real reason to look irritated. She came out of no where and never looked. Kinda hard to miss the bright orange car coming at you.

On a side note I got my tune...a day late. Updating tuner and getting it in. I'll have to get a date setup at dyno.

No street cars. Most the breakage and oil downs came from street. Slick cars seemed to keep their troubles right at start line.

I thought it was ironic: we were talking to the guy that actually had the first oil down before the racing started. He had a GSX eclipse with a big turbo, direct port N20 and other things. He was commenting on how he bet that there would be a blow up within the first couple cars.

BIG Negative, they ran street cars first. All the big oil downs came from the street cars and a monster truck acting like an idiot trying to dump the clutch at 8,000 rpms with 38" swamp mudders which anyone with brains would know that its going to destroy the yoke.

The first and biggest one was a white conv foxbody. Something happened to him right after he launched but he decided to hammer the car anyway to run a 16.xx something then oil down the whole shutdown and return road. That there alone cost everyone a time run, so we could have had 4
