    Health Reminders

If something is slightly wrong go to a doctor. It may end up being something far far more serious. Even if you don't have insurance go to a doctor or hospital.

Beginning of November my mother had some pains breathing. Went on until I got her to finally see a Doctor. Got her to go to a Med Express on 11/20. Now they didn't do a chest x-ray as she did not have the money for it. Which I would have paid for if she would have said something. With her symptoms she was diagnosed with possible pneumonia and pleurisy(every symptom of that). So ten days on an antibiotic which she said seemed to help. Until 12/8 having extreme difficulties breathing. Took her to an ER at nearby UPMC. Been admitted ever since with stage 4 cancer in breast, lungs(bad), bone, uterus. She is very good at hiding how bad she could be in pain until breathing became something she couldn't hide anymore. UPMC has treated her above and beyond what she ever expected with having no insurance.

She does have an extreme positive outlook and is willing to fight for all she has. Doctors have taken notice of this and managed to talk her to going to a nursing/rehab care to gain her strength. Which I agree would be better for her to gain her strength as she got weak being in hospital laying around on meds. They are to start chemo as soon as Monday or Tuesday and she is also gonna try a nano-encapsulated hemp oil(looked it up and the stuff she has is suppose to be very good for a great many things)

So again no matter how stubborn a loved one is. Keep insisting until they agree to go get medical help.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and best wishes to everyone.

Very wise advise! Growing up you think your parents will always be there. Then reality hits you when there gone. You think about all the things you could have, should have, and would have done, even if you were very attentive. Do all you can for them, because it will never exceed what they have done for you.

    Thanks guys.

Should be starting chemo on her Wednesday using Taxol. Seems to have been breast cancer that spread. This point it is stop it and get better function from lungs. Eventually switch to a hormonal treatment. Also another form contained to uterus but that may have been there for longer and not a priority currently.

She is also using some hemp/CBD oils.

Wednesday was 4th chemo and the day started with her breaking her right femur getting out to car. Just by steeping down onto first step out front door. She heard a pop and then the pain. Still went did chemo and only took two tylenol for pain (which her Oncologist is amazed at) Then off to x-ray and they admitted her for the break. No surgery needed but helluva way to start the day. Side effect of chemo and the bone cancer. Treatment to strengthen the bones starts Friday (not sure why they didn't start this prior)

Counts for the cancer have been cut in half already and the difference in her since 12/8 is amazing really. Current pace I'm pretty sure she will be off oxygen very soon. She is able to lay flat nearly and wasn't doing that 2 weeks ago. She is a trooper and more annoyed with the hair loss then the rest of the crap she is dealing with.

4 weeks since the fracture to femur. Doing better but she is sick of using a wheel chair to get around. Had 8th chemo this past Wednesday and just chugging along. Course now she is needing blood transfusions and had two units Thursday because of chemo. Still way less pain. Barely touches Tylenol and on occasion has not noticed the fentanyl patch has come off. Had radiation treatment to fractured hip area and to left shoulder last week also. Which seems to have helped with the bone issues there. She said it doesn't bother her much now.

Best news is Tumor Marker is down to 105 as of blood test from week 7 from original high of 570+ Dec 8th. Paperwork shows normal range 0.00-38.0

Week 9 blood test. Tumor Marker was down to 74. Time for week 11 chemo this week.

Came home today and she was not using the oxygen and her levels were staying around 95% which is great. Her doctor will be very happy to here about this. Was goal to get lungs better and her off oxygen completely before changing treatment.

Good news. Tumor marker down to 60 as of 3/8. Got to finally see results from CT scan done last week. Compared to one done in early December. I never saw the first images and now rather shocked she was even able to breath. The lungs were incredibly bad with more tumors than lung. Now compared to last week her lungs look just amazing. Her doctor is really just amazed at the turn around in only 3 months.

She has been staying off oxygen during day for a few weeks. Plus for almost a week not even using it at night.

So to celebrate it was a good steak dinner after leaving hospital today. Her first trip anywhere besides hospital visits since end of November.
